This is an all-original, dealer-built 1993 Mustang GX, created by John Bleakley Ford in Lithia Springs, Georgia. Designed and assembled to rival—and outperform—the era’s top street machines, this car was built to be a Saleen killer.
This particular vehicle is GX 01—number one of only four uniquely serialized cars produced before Ford stepped in and halted production, making it an exceptionally rare piece of Mustang history.
The Story
I originally went to the dealership to test drive the new 1993 Cobra Mustang. Like many at the time, I was excited—but ultimately left disappointed. The car felt underpowered and didn’t live up to the hype.
That’s when salesman Barney Conway suggested I try something different—the GX.
The moment I drove it, I knew.
This wasn’t just another Mustang.
It had the raw, aggressive pull of an old-school big block drag car. I had to have it.
